Transhumance, defined as the seasonal movement of livestock between geographical or climatic regions, was inscribed in 2023 on the representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.  It is a centuries-, if not millenia-old practice that is adaptive to local climate and changing conditions.
